Passive and Active Targeting in Tumor Microenvironment

Rajesh R Wakaskar

Cancer remains one of the most important causes of mortality in humans. Researchers have been seeking the most optimal treatment for various cancers, in terms of an optimal chemotherapeutic regimen. Recent advances in the drug delivery field have brought to the fore myriad opportunities for nano-therapeutics that may be either targeted or non-targeted to cancerous cells, thus providing significant advantages over conventional chemotherapeutic agents. The aim of this short review is to highlight some salient features of passive and active targeted drug delivery and their significant advantages in recent times.
