Impact of Parent Proxy Reported Quality of Life of Children with CP to Parental Psychosocial Distress

Introduction: Cerebral palsy is a group of non-progressive brain disorders that is caused by damage to the developing brain and impairs movement control and posture.

Objective: The aim of this study was to determine the effect of psychosocial parental distress on parental proxy-reported quality of life of children with Cerebral Palsy.

Setting: The research was carried out at the Children Hospital and Pakistan Society for the Rehabilitation of Disabled (PSRD) Lahore.

Study design: A cross sectional study design.

Patients: 131 patients.

Results: Results show that all dimensions of quality of life are influenced by psychosocial parental distress.

Conclusion: This research concluded that all parent proxy reported domains reporting quality of life are highly influenced by parental psychosocial distress, and this parental psychosocial distress was also negatively correlated with QOL reporting by parent proxy.
